Team-based safety at job sites applies the concept of real-time information about what’s happening around you to enable smarter decisions.
[Read more…]How new technology is enabling team-based safety
Workers are now better equipped than ever to practice team-based safety thanks to the ability of devices to communicate with other equipment. Here’s how…
[Read more…]Confined Space Gas Detectors… and the Fatal Failure to Communicate
Confined space gas detectors save lives, but only when we solve *this* communication problem and understand how to properly rescue those we cannot reach.
A quote from the 1967 film “Cool Hand Luke” perfectly sums up the problems we all face with confined spaces… [Read more…]
Centralised Gas Detector Servicing Thanks to Big Data and the Cloud
The centralised gas detector servicing model is a new paradigm, enabled by big data and the cloud, that is driving service levels up and costs down.
The data being generated, captured and used in our daily lives has increased massively. Terms such as “big data”, “internet of things” (IoT) and “cloud computing” are now common.
Internet of things (IoT) examples
At a personal level, we adopted smartphones first and now we’re watching smart TVs and wearing a smart device like Fitbit or Apple Watch. [Read more…]
How are wireless gas detectors changing confined space entries?
Continuous monitoring of the atmosphere within a confined space has always been considered a best practice, but is difficult and often impractical to implement. In this Ask John we answer the question about how the flexibility of wireless gas detectors is changing the way we test the atmosphere inside confined spaces.
Previously, the attendant assigned to the confined space entry monitored the atmosphere inside the space with [Read more…]
Is a gas detector with pump better than a non-pumped gas detector?
Some people believe a gas detector with pump is far better – that no pump means less accuracy, slower response, and it simply won’t detect as much gas. FACT: A gas detector with pump doesn’t mean it is more accurate, responds quicker or covers more area around you. But it will make some tasks much easier and safer.
Exactly when and how pumps should be used is a common topic.
Why use a pump with a gas detector?

How many gas detectors do you need to buy? Here’s how to increase efficiency & save money…
Nobody wants to buy gas detectors. But buying the right gear is a critical part of making sure your staff are safe and get to see their families each night.
Nobody wants to buy safety equipment, including gas detectors. But selecting and buying the appropriate gear is a critical part of making sure your teams go home safely to their families. [Read more…]
Simplify Gas Detection With All-in-One Kits
Here’s how to simplify your workplace gas detection practices with Entec’s new Ventis MX4 portable gas detector all-in-one kits…
Portable gas detectors are designed to be reliable and rugged, and of course they are designed to keep people safe from flammable or toxic gas hazards.
They do, however, require a bit of organisation in order to ensure they operate correctly when needed “in the moment”.
The challenges include… [Read more…]
